What is probate?

Probate is the legal process of proving a deceased person’s Will in the Supreme Court. It is an official recognition by the Supreme Court that the Will is valid and that the executor has the legal authority to administer the estate.

A probate lawyer guides executors through obtaining a Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration, prepares and lodges all court documentation, liaises with banks, accountants and superannuation funds, and prepares the final account to beneficiaries.

Madison Sloan Lawyers offers fixed fee probate packages so you always know your costs upfront.

An initial consultation is $550 + GST.

Our packages start from $4,400 + GST and Disbursements depending on the complexity of the estate.

Estate administration is the process of managing and distributing a deceased person’s assets after a Grant of Probate or Letters of Administration has been obtained. This includes calling in assets, paying debts, liaising with financial institutions, and distributing the estate to beneficiaries in accordance with the Will.
